Companies and organizations have the power to the change the world. Especially with the current COVID-19 crisis, our society needs change makers who stimulate sustainability and social responsibility. More than ever, consumers, business partners and other stakeholders expect organizations to make sustainability part of their actions. However, for many employees, marketeers, (senior) managers and entrepreneurs, sustainability remains a large concept and they doubt where to start.

In this three-module Sustainability Essentials training, you learn from practical examples of companies and organizations that successfully integrate sustainability innovation and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in their work. You will put theory to action and work on a variety topics and challenges that are relevant for you and turn this into your own action plan for positive impact. At the end of this training you’re ready to start tomorrow.

You might be just setting up a sustainability initiative, launch a new sustainable service or want to innovate your existing managerial processes.

What the training looks like…

Session 1: Getting smart on sustainability (October 29th – 09:00 – 13:00)
You need focus to make an impact. Learn about sustainability trends and developments in today’s society and explore future scenarios. Define what these challenges have to do with you, as a professional and how can you define your role in driving positive change. Focus is everything. And we will provide your with some real life cases and practical tools to get going.

Session 2: Build your strategy (November 5th – 09:00 – 13:00)
Now that you defined your key focus areas for sustainability it is time to build a sustainable business plan. Whether you have a non-profit or for profit idea, to drive positive change you need to think of the impact you can make and how you can measure and improve this. On this day we will make use of impact innovation and measurement-tools, such as the B Impact Assessment, and business model-frameworks to set your path as a change maker. 

Session 3: Learn, Improve and communicate (November 12th – 09:00 – 13:00)
As you kick-start your sustainability action plan you are tracking the impact you make. Yet, true change doesn’t come from you alone. In this session we evaluate the implementation of your plan and work on successful internal and external stakeholder activation so you can build a movement. With the help of industry insights you’ll learn how to activate and communicate for positive change.

At the end of the three modules you…

  • Walk out with a solid grasp of sustainability trends & developments related to the current state of the world;
  • Are aware of the most important strategy tools on sustainability and inspiring case studies;
  • Understand what sustainability means for your company or organization and have a clear idea on the relevant issues to work on and how to activate the right stakeholders;
  • Are ready to become an in-house sustainability champion and you have the tools to make positive change happen.

Guidance by our team at The Terrace

This online training is given by The Terrace. This training will be led by The Terrace’s founder and strategy expert Leontine Gast, who has more than two decades of experience in advisory and implementation of CSR and sustainability; and our sustainability strategist Eva Schouten who will make sure to trigger the most innovative and creative ideas in you. You will receive practical assignments during the day and in between sessions we are there to support you on your sustainability action plan.

The training will be given in English, but exercises can be done in Dutch too.
