Starting the sustainability journey together


Action is the fastest growing non-food discounter in Europe. They offer a hugely diverse and rapidly changing assortment. This concept has delivered Action great growth in the past few years. Currently they operate more than 1100 stores across seven different European countries.


Action is well aware of the sustainability challenges that come with this growth. The main question was how to implement ‘Action Social Responsibility Strategy’ into their business.


Action and The Terrace joined forces to strengthen and implement the CSR strategy; at Action this is called Action Social Responsibility.

  • We initiated a stakeholder consultation, conducting research and several interviews with external stakeholders to define the material topics and sharpen the CSR Strategy and set priorities.
  • Working closely with management to support the internal engagement through a master class for the top management.
  • Supported the different teams to fine-tune their CSR Action plans and the KPI framework.


The work done so far increases the awareness of sustainability both internally and externally. It highlights the priorities and shows which journey to follow.

  • It delivered the content for communication on the website and annual brochures.
  • CSR has been put on the agenda and into action plans.
